Skateboarders Have Local Access to Professional Skate Equipment

Local skateboarders now have access to gear right here in town. The Bargain Barn now carries everything needed to get around on four wheels. “We were filling a void in town,” shared Nick Schwerd, General Manager at the Bargain Barn. “There wasn’t anyplace local to go if a kid snapped a board.”

With boards, wheels, skate tools, helmets, bearings, hardware, and even stickers and t-shirts, the Bargain Barn is a one-stop shop for any skateboarding need, with featured brands such as Death Wish, Girl, and Sk8Mafia. If a particular product isn’t in stock, boarders are encouraged to put in a request and “I’ll see if I can get it for them,” stated Schwerd.

The inventory at the store has flourished with help from local skateboarders Woody Weisler, Calvin Arduini, and Kobe Richey, whose input has helped tailor the selection available. “They’re in that scene, so they have firsthand knowledge on what’s current,” Schwerd said. “Everyone has their preference.

The guys connection with the Bargain Barn started when Weisler asked if the store would sponsor them, presenting video footage of the skateboarders as an example of how the store gear would be marketed as they perform. “They are pretty impressive,” stated Schwerd.

The Bargain Barn has the best skateboard selection,” said Weisler, when asked why he and his friends choose to shop local. “We like that the Bargain Barn is a skateshop within a full department store, and family owned.” Weisler recommends choosing a deck from the store, as there is a wide selection to choose from. He also likes the fact that, not only is the store selling professional level skateboards that would normally require a trip to Chicago to find, but also that the Bargain Barn sells the equipment at a cheaper price.

We would definitely recommend the Bargain Barn to family and friends because there is something for everyone and they have the lowest prices!
