We are looking for all you gardeners out there, who love their gardens, Portage Garden Club's 8th Annual Garden of the Year Contest is underway! 
GARDEN OF THE YEAR CONTEST
- Entries are restricted to gardens located in Portage Township.
- Entries must be accompanied by three current photographs (non-returnable), entrant's name, address, telephone number and a brief description of their garden.
- Entries must be postmarked between June 5, 2010 and June 26, 2010.
- Send entries to: The Portage Garden Club, P.O. Box 322, Portage, In 46368 5. Gardens will be judged between July 12 & July 26, 2010.
- Gardens designed or maintained by professional landscaper/garden services are not eligible and is limited to ornamental gardens.
- First place winners from previous years are not eligible for entry.
- The contest is not open to members of The Portage Garden Club and/or their immediate families.
Gardens will be judged solely on effective use of color, variety of plants, asthetic visual appeal, and layout of the garden. Each entered garden must be able to be judged in each of the above categories to be considered. After each entry is viewed and judged, the committee will select one 1st, one 2nd, one 3rd and one honorable mention prize. The decision of the committee is final. The winning entry will be notified by phone/mail by August 1, 2010. All prizes will be awarded at the Portage Garden Club Annual Picnic on August 10, 2010. Winners need not be present at the picnic to receive their prize. Winners will be expected to be available to the press for follow-up articles.
