Shelby Ross Goal Highlights Purdue Northwest 3-1 Loss to Lawrence Tech

The Blue Devils (2-0) took an early lead in the opening half, after a goal from Tia Lamie put Lawrence Tech up 1-0.

Both teams would be held scoreless for the remainder of the half, with Lawrence Tech holding on to a 1-0 advantage heading in to the break.

Less than three minutes in to the second half, the Blue Devils would break away to extend their lead to 2-0, after Ally Nyboer found the back of the net thanks to a pass from Lamie.

Sarah Trapp would notch her first goal of the season in the 51st minute, connecting on a pass from Nicole Propst, which put Lawrence Tech up 3-0.

The Pride (0-1) would score it’s first goal of the season in the 69th minute, after a pass from Alex Vega (West Chicago, Ill./Community) found Shelby Ross (Nashville, Ind./Columbus North) on the right side of the field, who then beat the keeper left to cut into the Blue Devils' lead.

Both teams would remain scoreless for the remainder of the game, with Lawrence Tech coming away with a 3-1 road victory.

Heather Derstine earned her second win in as many days for the Blue Devils in goal, recording two saves and allowing one goal.

Lucie Ashmore (Greystones, Ireland/ St. Gerard’s School) suffered her first loss of the season in goal for the Pride, recording three saves and allowing three goals in 69 minutes of play.

Shayla McNeal (Indianapolis, Ind./ Pike) led the Black and Gold with four total shots, two on goal, while Ross finished the day with three shots total.

Purdue Northwest will return to action on Sunday, Aug. 21, when the Pride host Goshen College at 4 p.m. at Dowling Park.
