Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana leverages its history, scale and scope to close the opportunity gap for kids who need us most, preparing them to be problem-solvers, innovators and leaders who shape our world. Nationwide, Clubs partner with our federal government as the ultimate public-private partnership, focusing together on solutions and policies that have the greatest impact on our Greater Northwest Indiana youth, and the youth of our country.

On April 25, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana was proud to give Senator Mike Braun and his wife Maureen a personal and up-close tour of our Duneland Boys & Girls Club. Their visit provided an inside view of what happens behind our “Blue Club Doors” and the quality programming that takes place in after-school and summer hours, preparing kids for successful futures. A tour given by Club members Jaden Cole and Duneland Club’s Youth of the Year, Briana Lowry; Senator Braun witnessed, firsthand, Club activities that receive federal funding including the Club’s meal and mentoring programs.

Nichole Charlene, parent of Club member Jaden Cole, also attended the tour. She states, “My two children Tiffany and Jaden have been members of the Club for over nine years. Boys & Girls Club is such a positive influence in their lives. They learn financial literacy and banking, piano, athletics, art, computer technology and philanthropic endeavors. The Club is guiding them through fun and supreme learning to navigate life as young adults. I am so proud! For these children to have such opportunities after school is a privilege and a blessing.”

Senator-Mike-Braun-Visits-Boys-and-Girls-Clubs-of-Greater-Northwest-Indianas-Duneland-Club-2019_02 As one of the largest providers of afterschool programs outside of public schools, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana serves over 10,000 youth annually and 2,200 kids per day. Our Clubs are trusted in communities to fulfill critical needs when children are not in school. After school and summer learning programs offered by our Clubs are working to keep young people safe, provide opportunities for improving academic success, build character and leadership skills, increase health and fitness, and help youth achieve their full potential.
