Rittenhouse Residents Celebrate Older American Month with Tea Party

Rittenhouse-Senior-Day-2012-1May is National Older American Month. Since 1963, communities across the nation have come together to celebrate Older Americans Month—a proud tradition that shows our nation’s commitment to recognizing the contributions and achievements of older Americans.

The theme for 2012 is “Never too old to Play.” In celebrating National Older Americans Month Rittenhouse Senior Living of Portage sponsored a patriotic themed Tea Party at the Merrillville Senior Center on Wednesday, May 9th.

Guests from the senior center were dressed in red, white and blue and decorations were placed on the tables with the same theme. The seniors enjoyed drinking a variety of teas and eating scones that were prepared by the chef at Rittenhouse. For entertainment the seniors played a trivia game where questions were asked with topics from sports, culture and events from the 1930’s to the 2000’s. Each table participated in the trivia game and the winners were awarded with certificates.
