On Tuesday evening Rittenhouse of Portage hosted a Red Carpet open house to celebrate their second anniversary. According to Marketing and Admissions Director Judy Kukelka the purpose of the event is to raise awareness of Rittenhouse in the community and provide a venue for networking.
“We are hoping,” Kukelka said, “that the people from the Portage Chamber of Commerce as well as our other guests and family members can do some networking, and also just to show we’re here and look at what we’ve been doing for two years; kind of show us off a little bit.”
The event was styled as a business after-hours, complete with refreshments and wine to get the conversations flowing. As Kukelka mentioned, it was also a good opportunity for Rittenhouse to showcase their new Executive Chef Leland Andersen. Andersen brings 25 years of culinary experience, including eight years working to open new restaurants for Rainforest Café. He spoke about his culinary vision for Rittenhouse.
“I have the goal to make it a wonderful place for residents to feel comfortable and well taken care of,” Andersen explained, “It’s a different aspect to cater to the elderly and make sure that they feel comfortable. Some are gluten-free, some are diabetics, and I am in the process of learning to take care of all those needs.”
The Rittenhouse features a beautifully appointed common living area, one- and two-bedroom apartments, and three levels of care-giving to best suit their residents’ needs. They also provide lawn maintenance and light house-keeping for the residents in their independent living community. The staff at Rittenhouse really makes it the wonderful place that it is. They are caring and helpful, and all were wearing smiles as they assisted or just visited with their residents.
