Registration Open for Summer Adventures in the Dunes Youth Camps

Registration is now open for Dunes Learning Center’s Summer Adventures in the Dunes Camps. The camps provide five days and five nights for children to explore Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

Our camps are a combination of fun and learning,” John Hayes, Executive Director of the Dunes Learning Center, said. “Kids have a great time exploring the outdoors, searching for salamanders, playing games, and learning about Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

Summer Adventures in the Dunes Camps are affordable and include all meals and overnight accommodations from Sunday afternoon to Friday morning. Dunes Discovery Camps for kids entering 4th through 7th grade will be June 17 to 22, June 24 to 29, and July 8-13th. ParKids Day Camps for kids entering 1st through 3rd grade will be July 9-13 and July 23-27.

Summer camps have been available at the Dunes Learning Center for the past eight years. Activities include nature exploration, campfires, songs, swimming at Lake Michigan beaches, and various games, arts, and crafts.

The Dunes Learning Center is a non-profit organization established in 1998 in partnership with the National Park Service at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Dunes Learning Center is devoted to providing curriculum-based environmental education programs for schools throughout the Indiana Dunes region. Since it was founded, more than 60,000 children and others have participated in Dunes Learning Center programs.

Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is one of the nearly 400 units of the National Park System, ranging from Yellowstone to the Statue of Liberty. Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore includes 15 miles of the southern shoreline of Lake Michigan and 15,000 acres of beach, woods, marshes, and prairie in the northwest corner of Indiana.
