Race to the Beach this Sunday for the Lakeshore 12-20

Sunset at the Dunesf8b189Northwest Indiana runners will lead the way to family health and cancer awareness at the Lakeshore 12-20 5k run, walk, bike, or paddle. Join other competitors on Sunday June 23, 2013 at the Indiana Dunes State Park in this event hosted by the Foundation For Molecular Medicine and sponsored by Franciscan Alliance. The Lakeshore 12-20 is an event not to be missed!

The 5k will be a timed event, with prizes awarded to top finishers. General prize drawings will be held for all participants, and grand prizes for top fund raisers will also be awarded after the race. Shuttle buses will provide transportation from the entrance of the Indiana Dunes State Park to the start line at Chesterton Park adjacent to the Chesterton Middle School and back into the Dunes at the finish line. Gear check in/out will be provided as well as two hydration stations.

"The Lakeshore12-20 promises to be one of the most challenging 5k events for runners and walkers and takes you from Chesterton Middle School directly into the Indiana Dunes” said Frank Szcepanski, Co-Founder of the Foundation For Molecular Medicine and organizer of the event. “You'll run over hills, railroad tracks, over the Calumet trail, and end with a zip thru the woods to the finish line. This is an event you won't want to miss.”

All entrance fees and donations from the event go directly towards education on the early detection of metastatic cancers, neurodegenerative diseases, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. The registration fee includes a day pass to the Dunes, a commemorative T-shirt, and a tote bag filled with gifts from our co-sponsors. Stay after the race and enjoy music and a fashion show that features sun-safe style while you picnic at the beach. Kids will have a blast with a street magician performance, face painting, and a Cosmic UFO show. It will be a fun-filled day no matter how long you stay and benefit from the dedicated sponsors and volunteers for this event.
