Purdue Northwest Calumet Accounting Alumni Exceeded National, State Average Passing Marks on 2015 Uniform CPA Examination

Purdue-Northwest-colorGraduates of the Purdue University Calumet accounting program excelled in a national 2015 report of candidate performance on the Uniform CPA Examination. Passing marks on the exam are required to become a Certified Public Accountant.

The report, released by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), indicated the passing rate of Purdue Calumet graduates, 58.3 percent, exceeded the national average (49.8 percent), as well as averages of graduates from colleges and universities throughout Indiana (55.6 percent), Illinois (49.8 percent) and AACSB-accredited institutions (49.0 percent). AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) is considered the premier accreditation for collegiate business programs. Last spring, the Purdue Calumet College of Business gained AACSB accreditation, joining only 5 percent of business schools worldwide with the prestigious accreditation.

Ranked among top 8 percent nationally
According to the NASBA report, Purdue Calumet ranked 21st out of 284 institutions nationally in the category of small programs having 10 to 20 reported candidates.

While Purdue University North Central accounting graduates also fared well on the 2015 exam, fewer than 10 graduates took the exam and, hence, did not factor into the NASBA report.

With recent approval by the Higher Learning Commission, Purdue Calumet and Purdue North Central have unified to become Purdue University Northwest. PNW welcomes its first class of students this fall. Current students are completing the spring semester as enrollees of Purdue Calumet in Hammond or Purdue North Central in Westville.
