Purdue North Central Commencement To Be May 16

The Purdue University North Central 2010-2011 commencement ceremony will be Monday, May 16 at 7 p.m. in the Valparaiso University Athletics - Recreation Center, with an anticipated 386 master's, bachelor's or associate degrees being awarded. No tickets are necessary to attend.

The traditional commencement ceremony will feature the conferring of degrees by Purdue North Central Chancellor Dr. James B. Dworkin.

The new graduates will be welcomed to the ranks of Purdue alumni by PNC Alumni Association and PNC Advisory Board member Jeffrey L. Swan, vice president of Walsh & Kelly, Inc., a 1981 graduate.

The response on behalf of the 2010-2011 graduating class will be presented by Russell O. Wilk, of Chesterton, who is earning his Bachelor's degree in Communication. While at PNC, Wilk's grades have earned him mention on the Chancellor's List all eight semesters. He is a member of Lambda Pi Eta member, the PNC chapter of the National Communication Association and he was a John R. Troyer Communication Scholarship Recipient.

He is the co-author author of "Marshall McLuhan on the Cell Phone: What the Communication Theorist Would have Likely Said," which was published and presented at the 17th Annual Clement S. Stacy Undergraduate Research Conference. Wilk also volunteers for the Michigan City Safe Harbor Program, the La Porte County Drug Free Coalition and the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce.

Following the ceremony, graduates and their guests are invited to enjoy a reception in the Hilltop Gym, located within the Athletics - Recreation Center.

Refreshments will be served. Photo backdrops will be available so that students may take photos with their families and friends. Purdue memorabilia will be available for purchase.
