The Purdue University Calumet softball team dropped two games to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Cardinal Stritch University Thursday afternoon.

Game 2: Cardinal Stritch 5, Peregrines 3 (9 innings)
After Stritch (20-8, 9-3) plated the first run of the game in the top of the opening frame, Purdue Calumet (16-17, 5-3)would take the lead in the bottom of the fourth, after Holly Pagan (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) crushed her fifth homer of the season to put the Peregrines up 2-1.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Black and Gold would tack on another run thanks to an RBI-single from Taylor Kotzo (Munster, Ind./Munster) which plated Gianna Graham (McCordsville, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) to give the Peregrines a 3-1 advantage.

In the top of the seventh inning, Erica Kramer connected on a two-run home run to tie the game at 3-3 which eventually sent the game to extra innings.

Both teams were held scoreless in the eighth inning, but the Wolves would plate two runs in the top half of the ninth and come away with the 5-3 win.

Brianna Hall (University Park, Ill./Marian Catholic) and Kotzo led the offensive attack for the Peregrines, recording two hits each while Pagan threw for 8.2 innings, allowing four earned runs and striking out five.

Game 1: Cardinal Stritch 4, Peregrines 0
The Wolves notched the first run of the game in the third inning, after Alyssa Stube scored on a throwing error to give Stritch a 1-0 lead.

After Cardinal Stritch extended their lead in the fifth inning on an RBI groundout from Erica Kramer, the Wolves would tack on two more in the top of the seventh to take a 4-0 lead.

Tori Burke stayed solid through out the contest to hold the Peregrines to just two hits, while striking out five.

Sophomore Alex Morales (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) and Olivia Sardella (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central)

each recorded hits for the Black and Gold while Carly Murphy (Munster, Ind./Munster) pitched 6.1 innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out two.

The Peregrines return to action on Saturday when they host a CCAC doubleheader with Calumet St. Joseph at 1:00 p.m. (CT) at Dowling Park.
