Purdue Calumet Game Vs. Olivet Nazarene Moved to Wednesday in Bourbonnais

PUC-PeregrinsThe Purdue University Calumet softball team will look to continue its four-game winning streak when the Peregrines open Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play at No. 13 Olivet Nazarene University Wednesday afternoon.

The game was originally scheduled to be played Tuesday at Dowling Park in Hammond but has been moved to Bourbonnais, Ill., at ONU's Tiger Field.

Purdue Calumet (6-4) will take on the CCAC defending-champion Tigers (12-7) for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. (CT).

LAST TIME OUT
Senior Alison Kimble (Greenup, Ill./Cumberland) had another great outing with a career-high 13 strikeouts in a 3-0 shutout win over No. 25 Taylor University March 13. Kimble is 3-2 so far this season, with a 2.00 ERA and 41 strikeouts. Freshman Kellie Mink (Stilesville, Ind./Cascade) picked up the other W in Friday's doubleheader, leading the Peregrines to a 9-3 victory. In three starts so far this season, Mink is 2-0 with a 2.69 ERA and eight strikeouts.

Senior Alicia Ward (Mishawaka, Ind./Jimtown) finished with a fantastic day at the plate, going 5-for-7 with five RBI and three doubles to help the Peregrines win their second and third game over an opponent ranked in NAIA Top 25 this season.

BATTING LEADERS
Senior Ashley Adams (Lafayette, Ind./Central Catholic) leads the team with a .625 batting average has one home run and six RBI, while freshman Kaitlyn Skarecky (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) leads the team with 14 hits on the year.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The No. 13 Tigers (12-7) are coming off a 49-5-1 campaign in 2014, including an NAIA World Series Appearance. ONU is led by senior Erica Tatum who is hitting .500 with 31 hits, three home runs and 21 RBI. Freshman Haley Beno has made six starts in the circle, going 4-1 with a 1.91 ERA. ONU has yet to play a team in the NAIA Top 25 this season, though the Tigers did sustain a 7-3 loss to Dickinson State (N.D.), which is receiving votes, on March 14.

SERIES HISTORY
The Peregrines and Tigers met one time last season March 29, with ONU pulling out a 2-0 victory. Junior Shelbie Jones (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka) pitched a complete game, allowing just one earned run in the loss.
