Purdue Calumet Drops League Set to Calumet College

PUC-PeregrinsThe Purdue University Calumet volleyball team couldn’t find its groove in a three-set league loss to rival Calumet College of St. Joseph Tuesday night at the Fitness and Recreation Center.

The Peregrines (10-20, 4-12) fell to the Crimson Wave (9-29, 3-14) 26-24, 25-20, 25-20 in a match where 12 Peregrines saw the floor.

Gabrielle Martin (Kankakee Valley, Ind./Kankakee Valley) and Akeelah Muhammad (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom Township/Kishwaukee) each had eight kills and Allison Jorsch (Highland, Ind./Highland) added seven kills to lead the Peregrines offense, while Haley Smith (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley) added 15 assists.

Martin and senior Kelly Duke (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg/Ancilla) added 13 digs apiece on defense, while Muhammad had three block assists and Martin had a block assist and a solo block.

Monique LaForce had 11 kills and Rachel Eizenga had 16 assist for the Crimson Wave. Three players had double-digit dig numbers: Kacey Amendola with 19, Nicole Gill with 11 and Eizenga with 10.

The Peregrines return to action Tuesday, Nov. 4, when they host CCAC foe Indiana South Bend beginning at 7 p.m. at the FNRC.
