Purdue Calumet Completes 36 holes in Round 1 of Deer Park Classic

PUC-Completes-36-holes-in-Round-1-of-Deer-Park-ClassicThe Purdue University Calumet men’s golf team completed its first 36-hole day in program history with Monday’s first round of the Deer Park Classic at Deer Park Country Club.

The Peregrines shot a combined 622 to stand in 16th place out of 17 teams in the tournament, which wraps up Tuesday with a round of 18 holes starting at 8:30 a.m. CT.

Sophomore Patrick Mudd (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) led the Peregrines, shooting a 75 in the first 18 before carding a 76 in the second half to finish with a 151 to stand tied for 51sth in the competitive field of 92.

Freshman Ryan Wells (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) wasn’t far behind, finishing with a 153 (77-76) to stand tied for 61st. Senior Tim Talley (Portage, Ind./Portage) and teammate Brad Bobrowski (Valparaiso, Ind./Boone Grove) were next, both tied with a 159 (tied for 78th).

Joshua Jackowski (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) rounded out the Peregrines’ effort with a 163, good for 87th.

Mount Mercy’s George Long stood in the medalist position with a 9-under 133 and Holy Cross Colleges’ Kaleb Gorbahn was two strokes back with a 135.

Host Cardinal Stritch stands in first place in the team standings at 9-under par (559), Mount Mercy (560) is currently second and Indian Hills Community College stands third with a 566.
