Lafayette Harrison Invite (Girls Cross Country)
Portage finished sixth in the 22-team meet on Saturday with five runners finishing in the top 50. Kyra Ball led the way for the Lady Indians with a time of 19 minutes, 44 seconds and was followed by teammates Erin Reynolds (20:28) and Madison Allen (20:44). The Portage JV team finished fourth.
Other Northwest Indiana teams competing in the meet were Lake Central (3rd, 97 points), La Porte (4th, 135), New Prairie (8th, 244), Munster (9th, 273), Andrean (15th, 434) and Wheeler (18th, 455).
Hanover Central 3, Marquette 2 (Girls Soccer)
Brooke Sterkowitz, Abby Gaisor and Audrey Garcia netted goals for Hanover Central, who prevailed on Saturday. Marquette had goals from Stacey Barron (penalty kick) and Michaela Jennings in the loss.
Andrean 2, Hobart 0 (Girls Soccer)
Hanna Sarosy had both goals for the 59ers, who received eight saves from goalkeeper Megan Mulroe.
Hannah McPherson had six saves for Hobart, while Adisan Funke added two for the Brickies.
Hanover Central 1, Marquette 0 (Boys Soccer)
An unassisted goal from Jonathan Bixeman was the difference for Hanover, who received two saves from goalkeeper Ashton Mutuwa.
