Who doesn’t like a day at the office when one can throw on a pair of jeans and a business-casual shirt to wear for a day in a professional setting? Porter-Starke Services took their idea of “Casual Day” to a whole new level and decided that their dress-down day would benefit the greater good of the Valparaiso community.
Branding their casual day as Casual for a Cause, Jennifer Bissonnette, marketing and communications specialist for Porter-Starke Services explains, “Through this program, our employees have the opportunity to donate a small amount to dress casually on Fridays. The money raised is collected on a monthly basis and distributed to local organizations. Each year, our giving employees vote to select which organizations will receive funding. Valparaiso Boys & Girls Club was their choice.”
For this month, over $800 was collected and donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana’s Valparaiso Club.
“I truly love the giving spirit of the Valparaiso Community. I also love it when businesses, like Porter-Starke, become really creative in providing different avenues to give. Casual for a Cause not only benefits organizations, like ours, but gives Porter-Starke employees a chance to donate by earning a benefit themselves – casual wear at the office! We are very thankful to have been selected by the employees this month,” states Ryan Smiley, president and CEO for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana.
