Porter Regional Hospital to Add Clinical Trials

Porter-New-Hospital-Coming-SoonJamie Steinkamp, RN, has been named the Head Oncology Clinical Research Nurse at Porter Regional Hospital.

As a part of the Loyola University Medical Center and Porter Regional Hospital’s partnership, Steinkamp will lead Porter’s oncology clinical trials under the guidance of Loyola’s institutional review board. In the upcoming months, Steinkamp will be working with physicians to identify patients that are eligible for the trials, as well as monitoring patient progress during the trials.

“Porter’s clinical trials will be great for the community,” Steinkamp said. “These trials will offer patients the latest in cancer treatment. Previously patients would have to travel to Chicago to receive – an inconvenience in time and travel costs. Now these treatments are available close to home.”

Steinkamp has served as the Head and Neck Cancer Research Nurse at the University of Chicago and spent six years prior to that working for research hospitals including Johns Hopkins.

Steinkamp graduated from the University of Kentucky with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing at the University of Phoenix.
