Porter County Substance Abuse Council Names Timothy Beach as New Board President

Tim-BeachThe Porter County Substance Abuse Council announces Timothy Beach, Ogden Dunes Patrolman and Union Fire Chief, as its new President of the Board of Directors. Beach was elected to this position to fulfill an opening and will do so until the end of the year. He has previously been a member of the Board for two years.

“As a member of the PCSAC Board, I have been impressed with the work of the members. A great group of people that do really good works in the county. I look forward to building on all of the recent successes of the coalition and helping prevent substance abuse in the county.”

The Porter County Substance Abuse Council is a coalition of over 65 members and organizations in the county working to reduce substance abuse. The coalition collaborates, cooperatively, will many organizations, groups, and individuals, including schools, police departments, treatment facilities and other groups that are working to reduce substance abuse.

Beach will add his voice and experience as an officer of the Board, working toward coordination of efforts in the community, adding strength in the group, and working with others who know the community.

An upcoming event showcasing the coalition’s collaboration and coordination in the community is Awareness Matters, a free community event scheduled for August 29th at the Porter County Expo Center. This event has numerous individuals and organizations working together. Anyone working with youth is invited to attend this informative event focusing on drug trends, recognizing child drug use, and learning how drugs are hidden and used by our youth. Dedicated to reducing substance abuse in Porter County, the Substance Abuse Council is the county’s founding coalition working together to battle substance abuse. A member of the Governor’s Commission for a Drug Free Indiana, the Council is in its 27th year providing funding to the community.
