Are You Getting a Fair Deal?

The 36 directors and officers of the Porter County Agricultural Society are doing what they love doing-hosting a fair for people from throughout Northwestern Indiana and especially for the residents of Porter County. Each year it is their goal to make the changes that make the fair more interesting and user friendly to those who visit the fair. The directors value the quality of the 4-H Youth Program and support the varied projects and programs provided for well over 1,000 young people. The entertainment provided free to fairgoers rivals and exceeds the variety and quality of entertainment provided by many state fairs. Look over the fair program and note the locations and types of entertainment provided. The North American Midway Entertainment Carnival was a huge success in 2008 and is going to be even better this year. Get involved and enjoy all that goes on at the fair. There are indeed many things for everyone to enjoy at the 2009 fair.

"My favorite thing used to be taking my daughter for the free ride day from the Porter County Library Summer Reading Program. Now I just make sure to get an elephant ear and a lemon shake up!!"

Courtney Smith

"My kids love Tater Dogs!!"

Holly Jascoviak

"I love looking at all the 4H animals and projects! It is so cool to see the kids working so hard to make their animals look good for the judges. I'm always amazed at the creative displays that participants produce. I also NEVER miss out on having fried mozzerella cheesesticks!"

Cheryl Highlan

"Deep Fried Oreos and smoothies! I also like getting there early in the morning to check on the rabbits, it's so quiet it's nice to walk around before things open!"

Cindy Lawrence

"My husband and I love going inside the Expo Center and talking to the vendors. The people are nice, there's cool things to buy, and a bunch of little giveaways (our favorite being the free haircuts from the Barber School in Merrillville)."

Christa Essany
