Porter-County-Community-Foundation-Presents-Community-Funds-01The Porter County Community Foundation awarded both Salvation Army of Porter County and Portage Township Food Pantry with a Community Fund grant check. The grants provide the nonprofit organizations with much needed funds for programs or equipment.

Salvation Army of Porter County is using the grant funds to provide emergency financial assistance to residents of Porter County in need of rent, mortgage, or utility bill assistance. The grant will increase the number of households that can be served financially in order to prevent loss of housing.

The Portage Township Food Pantry will use its grant money to purchase equipment that will help the nonprofit more efficiently serve the more than 600 families that depend on the pantry each month. For over 30 years, the Portage Township Food Pantry has provided food assistance to families in need.

The Porter County Community Fund is one of 350+ funds established with the Porter County Community Foundation to benefit charitable causes. To learn more or to make a donation to the Foundation or any of the charitable funds, visit online at portercountyfoundation.org.
