Porter County Community Foundation Makes a Difference for Portage Resident in 2015

Porter-County-Community-Foundation-makes-a-difference-for-Portage-Resident-01The Porter County Community Foundation recently awarded Rebuilding Together Portage a Community Fund grant to support home repairs that included the installation of a ramp at a retired resident’s home.

The ramp gives Larry the freedom to now navigate in and out of his home independently. This renewed independence allows Larry, who is currently wheel-chair bound, to move his wood carving to his "front porch office" and meet the guys at the park under his own power and on his own time schedule.

“When visiting Larry’s home, we were able to witness the huge difference the ramp has made on his life and the opportunities he now has because of it,” said Foundation Vice President Brenda Sheetz. “We’re extremely fortunate to be able to improve the lives of individuals like Larry through our grant programs.”

Rebuilding Together, a non-profit with multiple affiliates throughout Porter County, brings volunteers together to improve the homes and lives of low-income homeowners in order to help address homelessness.

The Foundation inspires giving and engages the community to improve lives in Porter County now and forever. To learn more, contact the Foundation at 219.465.0294 or visit online at www.portercountyfoundation.org.
