Porter County Community Foundation Celebrates Outstanding Achievements

The Porter County Community Foundation celebrated its past year’s accomplishments and thanked the individuals and community partners who help make it all possible at its annual meeting on July 10 at Strongbow Inn. The remarkable work of local nonprofit organizations was also recognized with the presentation of the 2013 Outstanding Achievement Awards.

We could not accomplish anything at the Foundation without our nonprofit partners,’ noted Young. “As a way to say thank you, we annually award four Outstanding Achievement Awards.

This year, Outstanding Nonprofit Staff Member awards were presented to Chuck Leer and Dennis Morgan, both whom recently retired from their distinguished careers and four decades of dedication to their organizations. Leer served as President of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County and Morgan was the Founder and CEO of Family and Youth Services Bureau of Porter County.

Pat Bodensteiner was recognized as Outstanding Volunteer for her decades of volunteer service to many causes in Porter County including VNA Hospice, The Caring Place and Valpo Family YMCA. She was nominated for the award by Housing Opportunities.

The Outstanding Nonprofit Organization award was presented to The Caring Place. This award honors organizations that have been innovative, are committed to building long term sustainability, and demonstrate leadership in addressing a community need.
