Porter County Community Foundation Awards Community Grants, April 2014

porter-county-community-foundationThe Porter County Community Foundation recently awarded over $81,000 in Community Fund grants to 11 nonprofit organizations to help fund programs and equipment. The first round recipients of 2014 Community Fund grants are: Dunebrook, Frontline Foundations, Habitat for Humanity of Porter County, Mental Health America of Porter County, NW Indiana Excellence in Theatre, Portage Township Food Pantry, Portage Township YMCA, Porter County PACT, Porter-Starke Services, Rebuilding Together – Duneland, and Reins of Life.

“We are proud to work with our nonprofit partners and help them with funds to address current community needs,” said Barb Young, Porter County Community Foundation President. “The Foundation is able to do this each year because of the ongoing generosity of many individuals, families and businesses that support our mission. Together we are building a stronger community.”

Since its inception in 1996, the Foundation has helped more than 5,000 donors make a difference by creating over 300 funds to support many worthwhile charitable causes. The Foundation has awarded more than $16 million in grants to help nonprofit organizations open doors, provide critical services and enhance community programs.
