Porter County Community Foundation Awards a Community Grant to Call-A-Ride

call-a-ride-2012The Porter County Community Foundation recently presented a Community Grant to Call-A-Ride to help the nonprofit organization provide free transportation for the elderly, indigent and handicapped of Boone Township. Family Express Corporation also supported the cause by donating gas cards to the all-volunteer organization to help with its fuel needs for the Call-A-Ride van.

Foundation board member Jane Maxwell (L-Center) and grant committee member Emily Remster (R-Center) presented 2012 Call-A-Ride president Gene Rust the grant check. Call-A-Ride board members and volunteers joined Rust in accepting the Family Express gas cards.

Last year the Porter County Community Foundation was able to provide more than $1.9 million in scholarships and grants to nonprofit organizations.
