Portage YMCA Briefs: April 2015

Great-Communities-Have-Strong-YsApril Showers Bring May Flowers
What an amazing little rhyme we learned as tots to help us remember that after the storm, there's still beauty and growth. From every trials comes opportunity. I believe there's a bright and beautiful future right around the corner for us! I believe it to my core! I believe that for our staff. For our members. And for YOU! For Portage.

I believe it to my core. I believe that for our staff. For our members. For the Portage community. And for YOU!

Because of this belief, I'm happy to announce some exciting things coming in the Summer of 2015. We're doing BIG stuff, making new friends that will help us reach more people and improve more lives here in Portage.

Renovation
Our Spring 2 session ends on May 20, 2015 and then Aquatics Program at the Portage Township YMCA is taking a summer break. All summer long, we'll be working on a new and improved learn-to-swim programs in partnership with the Portage Parks Department to be kicked off on September 8, 2015. Please check out the program improvements in the fall on Facebook and our website.

Facility Hours
Beginning May 26, 2015, the Portage Township YMCA will have new summer hours closing on weekdays one hour earlier. This change will take effect annually during the summer season from the Tuesday after Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Facility Hours: Monday - Friday 4 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. throughout the summer. We'll resume our regular YMCA building hours on Tuesday, September 8, 2015. Our Welcome Center staff are happy to assist with information for you at 762-9622.

Maintenance Shutdown
The most exciting news for this coming summer - following the trend of all of the other YMCA's in our Northwest Indiana neighborhood, the Portage Township YMCA will be have a maintenance shutdown week. From Sunday, July 12 - Sunday, July 19, 2015, the Portage Township YMCA will close our doors (with the exception of the Child Care and Development Center and Mini Camp) to clean the entire building from top to bottom and repair some of the most needed items on our list. During this shutdown week, our members may visit any other YMCA in our neighborhood to use their facility.
