Myers Elementary
Students from Janet Cantrell's Kindergarten class at George L. Myers Elementary in Portage recently learned about “The Little Engine That Could.” Music teacher Matthew Byerly helped students build homemade kazoo 'train whistles' and explore tempo, rhythm and beat by moving and making train sounds to various rhymes and train songs. Allied Arts courses (Art, Music, and Physical Education) meet for one hour per week with each class at every grade level, providing extra enrichment and cross-curricular lessons incorporating elements of each discipline with concepts introduced in their general education classroom.

Saylor Elementary
Mrs. Benson from the Porter County Soil & Water Conservation District came to talk to Saylor 1st graders on Friday. Students learned how seeds travel. They searched our school grounds with magnifying glasses for different seeds, and shared what they found with each other.
