Portage-Township-Schools-LogoPortage Township Schools is receiving recognition from the Indiana Department of Education for its use of the Indiana Course Access Portal. ICAP is available to Indiana school districts who want to expand the range of courses they offer their students. The 18 students enrolled in ICAP at Portage High School are studying American Sign Language, allowing them to earn credits in a course that would not otherwise be available.

Each day, the students using ICAP meet in person and use their school-issued iPads to complete their required coursework online. Students are supervised by a PTS employee during this time. These students will earn two credits toward their diploma requirements.

Of the five school districts participating in the ICAP program, Portage Township Schools has the largest number of students enrolled. Other participating districts include Beech Grove City Schools, East Allen County Schools, East Porter County School Corporation, and Wa-Nee Community Schools.
