Portage Township recognizes Matt Lentz for service on foundation board, to township

Matt Lentz, a five-year member of the Friends of Portage Township Foundation, was recognized for his service to the township and its foundation Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Lentz, area manager of Aqua Indiana, served on the Friends of Portage Township Foundation for five years. Under his leadership in the company, Lentz and other employees also volunteered with the township to help in various endeavors from the annual Team Up to Clean Up event to the Haven Hollow Harvest Fest.

“We just really appreciate the services he’s provided to the township and on the Portage Township Foundation, in addition to the service Aqua Indiana has provided to the township,” said Taylor O’Neal, Portage Township Parks & Recreation superintendent.

Township Trustee Brendan Clancy commended Lentz and Aqua Indiana, saying partners like them help provide additional services to township residents.

Lentz, who is leaving the company to return home to the Ft. Wayne area, said the company believes it has a responsibility to be involved in the community.

In return, Lentz lauded Clancy and the township staff for improvements made during his tenure at the South Haven plant.

“You guys have done a lot of good here. I hope you keep that moving forward,” Lentz said.
