On Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, 11 girls from the Portage Township area competed in the Pop Warner District Cheer and Dance Competition at Valparaiso University, representing the Portage Pop Warner Junior Pee Wee Cheerleading division. They have been practicing since Aug. 1 and were excited to show the crowd what they could do in their 2:30 routine!
Dancing and cheering to songs "Call Me Maybe" by Carley Rae Jepson and "21st Century Girl" by Willow Smith, the girls owned the floor and took first place in their division. Many of these girls have been together since they were Tiny Mites five years ago. This is the first time they placed first in the District Competition. They will now move on to Regionals on Nov. 11. If they win first or second place at Regionals they will then advance to the National Competition at Walt Disney World in Florida the first week of December.
Way to go girls! Emily Ard, Riley Enocksen, Mikaia Gayton, Alyssa Kennedy, Sophie Miracle, Alizay Smith, Karyssa Smith, Madison Tinsely, Brianna Trinidad, Vanessa West and Mikaela Yoder.
