Following their 2-2 week, the Portage High School softball team remained at sixth overall in the Region Sports Network’s weekly ranking of Northwest Indiana’s top teams.

6. Portage Indians (9-5; Last Week: #6)
Portage fell to Chesterton and Crown Point, but offset that with a 5-2 upset win over RSN #1 and Class 4A #2 Lake Central. Kiley Jones gave up four hits and a walk in seven innings to an LC team that had won 11 straight. Catcher Haley Hodges hit a two run homer to hand LC their first DAC loss in six games. The Portage losses are to Andrean (9-1), LaPorte (11-2), Chesterton (11-6), CP (10-2) and 2A power Scecina (8-5), not a bad or unexpected loss in the bunch.
