Portage Restaurant Hosts Event to Support Local Purdue University North Central

Portage-Restaurant-Hosts-Event-to-Support-Local-Purdue-University-North-CentralAs part of its continued commitment to the local community, the LongHorn Steakhouse restaurant in Portage recently hosted a “Campfire Breakfast” fundraising event to benefit the Purdue University North Central volleyball team.

With a simple $5 donation, the community was able to enjoy a new twist to LongHorn Steakhouse’s regular menu including pancakes, sausage, milk and other breakfast favorites while helping support the PNC volleyball team.

The idea was born when PNC volleyball player Caylyn Bellar, a sophomore and a LongHorn Steakhouse employee, reached out Managing Partner Donnie Gilbert about purchasing advertisement in the team’s media guide.

Gilbert has a strong passion for keeping his restaurant involved in the community, so he proposed a better idea: host a fundraising event at the local restaurant and donate all proceeds to the team.

A total of $800 was raised, and all proceeds are going to support the PNC volleyball athletes through the 2015-16 season.
