Relay for Life on June 4th was a heartfelt and touching event. To see all the supporters of those who have won, who have lost and who are fighting cancer brought tears to many eyes. The survivors lap was filled with Purple Survivor shirts and many hands to hold.
Tents and luminaries were set up all along the perimeter of the track and the bleachers displayed HOPE spelled out with several of the white decorated liminaries. People were looking at all of the campsites honoring those who suffer from one form of cancer to all different forms of cancer. The night was a total celebration of "Another Birthday" for those who have survived and a ceremony to honor those who have lost their battle.
Stations were set up, people were walking and running and having an enjoyable time. The laps and conversations continued through out the night. The band and DJ had participants singing and dancing into the wee hours of the morning which maintained laughter and high spirits.
Everyone began clearing up tents and packing up their coolers and other belongings around 6 am. We are already preparing our strategy for next years Relay and hopeful for more participants and camp sites to help support us in our fight against Cancer.
