Portage Library to Celebrate Banned Books Week

books-pileWhat's your favorite book? Chances are good that someone has tried to ban it. Celebrate YOUR freedom to read during Banned Books Week, September 30 to October 6.

Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. Sponsored by the American Library Association, Banned Books Week is meant both to raise awareness of the benefits of free and unrestricted communications and to highlight those cases in which titles have been suppressed.

Celebrate your freedom to read by visiting the Portage Public Library or any library in the Porter County Library System. We encourage you to check out a favorite banned book, or discover a new one.
