Portage High School Spanish Students Research their Dream Homes

PHS-World-Language-Dream-Houses-2016_01Spanish 1 students are doing a great job learning about vocabulary words that pertain to the home and family. The students were given the task of creating “La casa de mis sueños” - “My Dream House.” Some of the students went all out and consulted luxury home sites and created house plans on paper and labeled the rooms of the home and where things were located inside and outside of the house with the prepositions they are learning. It was a big project for a lot of the students, but some went over and above and created some really cool house plans.

PHS-World-Language-Dream-Houses-2016_02Spanish 2 students are learning about travel by plane and trains and where young people in Spain and Latin America stay in order to travel economically. Their task was to find a youth hostel in the country of their choice and create a brochure for the hostel. They had to research where the hostel was located, what the total cost would be for their group, activities they could do while staying at the hostel, and attractions in and around the city they chose. They did their research through the Hostelling International website and/or the Spanish Hostel website reaj.com. The next part of the project is to have the students present what happened during their “trip” in Spanish using one of the two past tenses in Spanish.
