Portage High School Health Students Place High in State Competition

The Portage High School HOSA Chapter, comprised of students enrolled in the Porter County Career and Technical Medical Terminology and Dental Health Classes, had 16 students attend the HOSA State Leadership Conference, which was held April 18-20 in Indianapolis, Indiana. At HOSA conferences, students are involved in general sessions, leadership training, educational workshops, and competitive events. The top three finishers in each competitive event advance to the HOSA National Leadership Conference, which will be held June 23-26 in Anaheim, California.

HOSA, Health Occupations Students of America, is a national student organization endorsed by the U.S Department of Education and the Health Science Education Division of ACTE. HOSA’s two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in health care and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary and postsecondary students. Since its inception in 1976, HOSA has grown steadily reaching 110,000 members through 47 state associations.
