Portage High School Guidance Department Good News, December 8, 2014

PHSCrestThe guidance department would like to congratulate the majority of Portage High School students who are quietly and persistently working toward achieving academic and personal goals. Most of our students are attending school daily, arriving to class on time and completing all class work successfully. These students are, also, avoiding drama and confrontations with their peers and teachers and following the rules set down at PHS. As our principal states daily to make good choices, the counselors can verify that statement is being adhered to by most of our students.

The seniors planning to attend college, or any higher learning institution, are taking care of business by taking the ACT or SAT and following through by meeting deadlines for applications and scholarships. Students are showing leadership skills through extracurricular clubs, sports, music, theatre, Honor Society and Student Council. Many of our students are maintaining high grades, participating in afterschool activities and community service while holding down jobs without complaint. The guidance department, and your individual counselor, is very proud of you.

You are the future of our country and we feel secure knowing we are in good hands. The guidance department also knows that we have students who are having difficulty finding their way socially and academically but, do not fear you will eventually learn how important it is to overcome adversity and look toward the future for success. The counselors and home school advisors at Portage High School are here to work with you, not only to improve your circumstance, but point you in the right direction for a prosperous tomorrow.
