Portage High School Economics Students Design Bank Letters

PHS-Sports-Departmnet-News-12-11-14Students in Mr. Spottiswood's Economics classes were asked to apply their knowledge of the US banking system to a real world use. Students designed brochures like you would get from a bank or a "junk mail" letter that could persuade people to join their bank. Along with the fun parts of the assignment such as coming up with a name, logo, and special offers (like free hoodies and food) for their bank, students also demonstrated their knowledge of the functions of banks. Students were required to explain to the reader what exactly M1 and M2 money supply is, and how the different financial institutions vary.
