Portage High School Advanced Food & Nutrition Class Good News, December 5, 2014

Portage-High-School-Home-Ec-CollageKathleen Hrab and Noah Penrose display the muffins that they demonstrated in their Nutrition & Wellness class as these students continue their experiences with making quick breads. The NW classes will be preparing these muffins in lab on December 5.

Elexus Deslauriers and Shyanne Hightower demonstrate the technique known as "paillard" which means to flatten a piece of meat until it is very thin. These students then demonstrated the breading and frying process. The Advanced Foods & Nutrition classes are preparing this in their lab on December 5.

Collin Tharp and Michaela Berlin are hard at work flattening the chicken pieces and breading it prior to frying in a small amount of oil in their Advanced Foods & Nutrition class.
