The Portage Food Pantry Food Drive

The Portage Food Pantry serves about 700 Portage families a month, a number that has dramatically increased over the past year due to the economy.food-bag The Pantry is able to buy food from the Food Bank of NWI at a discounted price and also receives USDA foods. The majority of the food comes from donations and food drives held by businesses, schools and churches in Portage.

The Pantry has wonderful volunteers and great donations but they are always in need of more food. There will be a food drive held on Saturday, May 8th, the Post Office Food Drive. Residents of Portage are encouraged to hang a bag of food on their mailbox on May 8th. The postal worker will pick it up. Or you can go to the post office and drop off food there as well.
