Portage Exchange Club Holding Annual Raffle to Help Kids

Portage-Exchange-2012-RaffleDid you know that a mere $20 can give you a chance to win a car or some cash, enjoy an all-you-can-eat picnic and help some less fortunate kids?

The Portage Exchange Club is selling tickets for its 2012 Charity Raffle for Kids right now. The tickets are drawn in a reverse drawing. The last ticket drawn wins the grand prize of a 2012 brand new Ford Focus or $10,000.

Lakeshore Ford has provided a Ford Focus to view. It is on display at the corner of Central Avenue and Willowcreek at the Ace Hardware parking lot. This may not be the actual Focus given as the grand prize. Color and features may vary.

There will be other cash prizes, too. The first ticket drawn wins $100, and every hundredth ticket drawn wins $50. The next to the last ticket drawn wins $500. You do not have to be present to win. If your ticket is drawn for a prize, you will be contacted that day and receive notification of what you have won.

Only 1500 tickets are available for purchase, so your chances to win a prize are 1 in 88 if all tickets are sold. If fewer than 1400 tickets are sold, the prize will be 50% of the amount raised.

The drawing will be held on August 18 at VFW Post 7760 at 2803 Monnier Street. The VFW will provide a delicious picnic. Each $20 raffle ticket has an attached food ticket for one person to enter the picnic.

The money raised by this raffle is used for several Exchange Club projects for children, primarily the Needy Kids Christmas Shopping Project. Approximately 150 families whose names are provided by the school system will be helped. The parents of kids who might otherwise not have much of a holiday are given an amount of money depending on the number of children to spend on any type of clothing—from winter boots to party dresses to underwear to pajamas. Parents pick out the clothing, so they know their children will receive the correct sizes and styles.

This year the Shopping Project will be held at the Portage Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart has already awarded a $1000 grant to the club to help with the project.

You can purchase a ticket from any Exchange Club member, at Ace Hardware on Central Avenue in Portage or at VFW Post 7760.

Take a chance to win a prize, enjoy a picnic and help some kids. Where else can you do so much for $20.00?
