Portage Exchange Club Discusses 2015 Real Life Church Back to School Fair

Portage-Exchange-Club-Real-Life-Church-Back-to-School-Fair-2015-01Chandra Ostrander and Laurie Belcher attended the Wednesday, July 15, breakfast meeting of the Portage Exchange Club. Ostrander discussed the Real Life Back to School Fair that will be held at Real Life Church, 3134 Swanson Rd, Portage, on Sunday August 16 from 4 - 7 p.m.

"This is the third year we are holding the fair," Ostrander said. "Each year it gets a little bigger and reaches more people. Last year we helped about 700 students. We gave away 800 packs of school supplies. We'll have free hair cuts, hot dogs, popcorn, Sno-Cones, kids games and other fun things again this year."

The Portage Exchange Club will sponsor two bouncy houses at the fair.

Several other churches and organizations are helping sponsor the Fair, but there is still a great need for volunteers and donations.

"We need people to run the kids' games. We need people to donate supplies. We need help everywhere," Ostrander, the project chair, said. "If people want to donate, we are collecting five basic school essentials - wooden pencils with erasers, boxes of 24 crayons, glue sticks, erasers and boxes of Kleenex. We will take monetary donations, too. The more of us are there working together, the better we can serve the kids of Portage."
