Portage Elementary Schools Celebrate Making Healthy Choices

Written by Michael Sopko

May 5th marked the annual Portage Township Schools Drug Free Club picnic. All eight of Portage Township’s elementary schools participated in the event. The Drug Free Club is open to fourth and fifth grade students at each elementary school.

Throughout the course of the school year, each individual club meets periodically and participates in activities geared toward making healthy choices and drug use prevention. At the end of every school year, all eight clubs meet at Woodland Park for a group celebration.  During the celebration, students get to meet and work with students from each club as they participate in different activities.

This year the clubs had some wonderful weather and really enjoyed themselves as they capped off another year of hard work with a well-deserved celebration.
