Portage Chamber of Commerce Holds Holiday Open House Party

There was a party going on Thursday evening at the Portage Chamber of Commerce building! The annual Chamber Holiday Party was in full swing and all who attended were in high spirits.

“It has been a very successful year which is so important for the commerce to get our businesses recognized. It helps promote Portage, Indiana with the Port and all of our local businesses so it has the potential to be a great weekend destination for Chicago residents,” Portage Mayor James Snyder said.

The city of Portage is growing and prospering, and with a successful year coming to a close, there was reason to celebrate.

“Terry Hufford [Portage Chamber of Commerce Executive Director] did a great job of increasing members this year which is what it’s all about. Just in 2012 we have added forty new members,” Chamber of Commerce Treasurer Cindy Colvin said.

“This is a great annual event because it gives member a chance to come and mingle and network with other members,” Chamber of Commerce Manager Alana Ingersoll said.

That was what brought John Peterson from Midwest Family Federal Credit Union to the event. He wanted to let others in the community know that Credit Union isn’t just for steel mill workers; it’s for the entire community. He was also awarded with 2012 Volunteer of the Year award.

A great spread of food and drinks were generously donated by Town & County Market. There was also raffle tickets handed out at the door for every person who attended. The prizes were all donated from businesses around Portage such as: Bass Pro Shops, Loving’s Heating and Cooling, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Portage 16 Imax -to name a few.
