Portage Chamber Monthly Luncheon Gets a Change of Scenery

On Thursday, the Portage Chamber of Commerce gathered at Texas Roadhouse for a delightful lunch. The Chamber usually holds their luncheons at Woodland Park, but this time they wanted to do something a little different.

“We wanted to give our members the opportunity to eat at a nice restaurant for our luncheon,” said Terry Hufford, the Executive Director of the Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce. “We were able to enhance our luncheon and everyone seems to be enjoying it.”

The staff at Texas Roadhouse provided excellent service and quality food for the Chamber members. Given the quality of everything Texas Roadhouse has to offer, it’s no wonder that Doug Giltrap, the Managing Partner of Texas Roadhouse, received an award from the Chamber at the annual Chamber Banquet.

“This is also a great way to help a local business,” Terry Hufford added. “By holding the luncheon here, we are able to get members who live in Valparaiso or Chesterton to eat at a great restaurant in Portage that they might not visit otherwise.”

Once everyone had a chance to eat, Terry Hufford had the chance to bid farewell to some members who will no longer be with the Chamber and welcome the new members who have just joined.

Before the lunch ended, Mike Sarver, Treasurer of the Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce, addressed the members on the state of the Chamber. The members of the Portage Chamber have been hard at work to improve their city.

“It’s great to get together, as Chamber members, and work toward enhancing our city,” said Mike Sarver.
