Portage Bulldawgs Tournament Recap: Blue Chip Tournament

The Portage Bulldawgs 9 and Under and 10 and Under teams played in their first tournament. The tournament was the Blue Chip Tournament in Lafayette, Indiana.

The 9-and-Under team was 0 and 3, but competed very well against teams made mostly of nine year olds. Portage 9U lost 3-2 to Yorktown, and then they lost 4-0 to Valparaiso. Their final game was decided by an 11-1 score.

The Portage 10U team finished the tournament 2-and-2. They lost their initial game with some pre-game jitters to the Danville Chiefs 12-0. They came back against the Blue Chip team, winning 3-2. They finished the day on Saturday with a 5-0 victory against Harrison. On Sunday morning, they lost a nail-biter, 2-1, versus Yorktown.

This is the inaugural season for the Bulldawgs and all of the parents and coaches are very proud of them.

They continue their season with an outdoor tournament in Indianapolis the weekend of March 20-21. This is followed by several local tournaments in the month of April. The Portage Bulldawgs host a tournament at the Portage Little League feidl the weekend of April 16-18.

The Portage 9-and-Under team consists of: Preston Tabor, Miguel Verduzco, Nick Brock, Zach Warchus, Jack Dixon, Evan Gerike, Christopher Corralez, Ronnie Wilkins, Tommy Elwood, Justin Lee, and Zach Fillippo. This team is coached by: Manager Rob Warchus, Ron Wilkins, Brian Gerike, and Miguel Verduzco.

The Portage 10-and-Under team consists of: Cody Russell, Dakota Fryer, Nick Elwood, Stephen Szakacs, Jonathan Ramirez, Alex Bourge, Brice Kissinger, Josh Oliver, and Kyle Johnson. The team is coached by Manager Bob Russell, Ken Elwood, Keith Johnson, and Miguel Verduzco.
