Childcare and Development Center

1/2 off first week of childcare for first time users! Act fast and help your child prepare for pre-school and Kindergarten. The Portage Township YMCA State Licensed Childcare and Development Center offers a safe, nurturing stimulating, and educational environment for children ages 2-5. The Y uses posi-tive approaches along with curriculum based learning. We promote children’s development in a cognitive, social and emotional environment. The Y takes pride in not only teaching the curriculum, but also by in-stilling the 5 core values: caring, honesty, respect, faith and responsibility. Our teachers help build confi-dence and character to help the children transition into Kindergarten. The Center provides breakfast and a hot, healthy lunch and 2 snacks during the day. No Bummer Summer Camp

Camp is for children entering Kindergarten-age 13

Camp runs from June 10th to August 16th Registration $25.00 per child

Full Time 6:30 am – 6:00 pm Weekly fee: $110.00 for Primary, $88.00 for Primary Plus
Part Time 9:00 am-3:00 pm Weekly fee: $100.00 for Primary, $80.00 for Primary Plus
Daily Rate: $35.00 for Primary $28.00 for Primary Plus

Camp includes team building, field trips, daily swimming, educational activities and of course lots of Fun! Our day camp is held at Portage High School West. CCDF Vouchers accepted and financial assistance available for families that qualify.

NEW THIS YEAR! SPECIALTY CLINIC!

Clinics are held on Monday-Wednesday-Friday 12:00-1:00 during camp hours. Clinics will rotate on a 3 weeks schedule, You chose the clinic your child attends for no additional costs.

Beyond the Classroom

Summer Mini Camps ages 18 months-7 years

Stay and Play
Part of this interactive class will consist of a mix of making crafts, playing games and listening to stories with part of the class being structured activity time. Minimum of 3 participants to run class. Class meets in the multipurpose room on Monday’s 10:15-11:15 a.m. Ages 18 months-3 years

Fit and Fun
High energy of sports and fitness first half of class crafts, games and songs second half of class. Wednesday: 11:45am-12:45pm ages 3-7

ABC 123 Review
Brush up on alphabet and numbers through worksheets, creative play and cognitive games. Wednesdays: 4:00-5:00pm ages 4-6

Preschool Academy Registration

Register NOW for fall 2013-2014. A completed registration form along with a non-refundable $25 registration fee will reserve a spot for your child in our program. We offer 2, 3 and 4 day a week classes for children 3-5 years old. Our program is designed and implemented by dedicated teachers in a nurturing environment to help children reach their full potential and capabilities. We are very academically structured as we help children de-velop socially and physically as well. Our classrooms are fun and inviting and students look forward to coming to school. Our teachers work closely with the PTS Kindergarten teachers and the new Indiana State Common Core Curriculum to help your child learn the skills needed to enter kindergarten. It is so much more than A,B,C's and 1,2,3's. It is our goal that your child perceives school as a fun and exciting place to be. We are committed to providing your child with a positive learning experience. We will focus on cognitive skills, life skills, fine and large motor skills, self-development and self-confidence. Y-Care

Before and After School Care. Since 1986 the Y has partnered with the Portage Township School Corp. to provide its Y-Care program to care for children before and after school. The program meets at Aylesworth and Jones Elementary Schools and provides Portage Kindergarten through middle school students a safe, fun, and curric-ulum based program to meet their needs. It is open before school at 6:30 am and after school until 6:00 pm. All staff are CPR/first aid certified. The Y-Care program has received a grant from the Porter County United Way for a new, healthy approach to child care. LAUNCH will offer Y-Care children fresh fruits and vegetables at least 3 days per week, physical activity for at least 30 minutes every day and opportunities to learn about health and nutrition from healthcare professionals through the Y’s partner-ship with St. Mary Medical Center. Come join the fitness & fun hap-pening in the Y-Care LAUNCH program which is funded through a grant from the United Way of Porter County. Aquatics

With summer quickly approaching you want to make sure your children will be safe around a variety of water environments. At the Portage Y water safety is an integral part of the instruction during twice a week swim lessons. Our classes will run from 3:45-5:45 during the months of June and July. Class size is limited. Registration begins May 21 for June classes and again on June 21 for July classes.

Don’t miss the opportunity during Day Camp (No Bummer Summer) to choose the swimming specialty camp. There your child will have swimming lessons three days a week!

The adult Aquacise class has become very popular. Forty-five minutes of vigorous water exercise twice a week is a great way to supplement your workout program and is easy on the joints! Non-members can be a part of this class for $32/month. During the summer it will take place from noon to 12:45 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We also have private lessons and adult group instruction available for members and non-members.

**NEW THIS SUMMER** We have set aside 1:00-2:30 for private pool parties on the following dates: June 13, 20, July 11, 18, August 1. Call and speak to Susan to reserve your date. Under 25 people the cost is $30.00.

The pool will be closed Saturdays and Sundays and from August 12 to September 2. Reserve your spot for September classes starting August 21.

Swimmers preferring to swim laps are welcome at the Y pool from 2:30 to 5:45 each day from June 10 to August 9. Non-members pay $2 at the door.

Free Family Float Night for any Portage resident the first Friday of June 6:15-8;45pm, July and August 2:30-5:00pm

Gymnastics

We offer gymnastics classes to children 18 months - 16 years at different ability levels in-cluding a competing team. Gymnastics helps participants develop coordination, self confidence, better concentration, strength and pride. To try out for team or to book a birthday party contact Janet @ 762-9622

Middle School Team

SUMMER MEMBERSHIP SPECIAL- Beginning June 1, 2013 the Y’s summer membership special will be available. Purchase 4 weeks- $40, 6 weeks - $60, 8 weeks - $80, 10 weeks - $100, or 12 weeks - $120 with NO JOINER FEE! All purchases must be made by July 31, 2013. All memberships must expire by August 31, 2013.

COLLEGE MEMBERSHIP SPECIAL - Beginning May 15, 2013 all full-time college students with schedule or current college ID will receive a single primary plus membership for $31 a month with NO JOINER FEE! Mem-bership must be purchased by July 31, 2013
