PNC Promotes Faculty Members

The Purdue University Board of Trustees has approved the promotion of six Purdue University North Central faculty members. These promotions become effective with the 2012 -2013 academic year.

"These promotions are granted in recognition of the significant achievements of our faculty members," said Purdue North Central Chancellor Dr. James B. Dworkin. "I extend my congratulations to each of these outstanding educators. Each day in the classroom, they promote learning as they challenge their students to learn and explore as they share their knowledge and expertise with their students. We are proud to have these outstanding professionals as members of our PNC faculty."

Academic tenure is acquired on promotion to the rank of associate professor. Candidates promoted to this rank have accumulated a record of accomplishment as a faculty member and show promise of continued professional growth and recognition.

Those promoted are:

Dr. Mitchell Alix to associate professor of Biology. He earned his bachelor's degree from Purdue University North Central and his Ph.D. from Purdue University in West Lafayette.

Dr. Paul Hecht to associate professor of English. Hecht holds a bachelor's degree from Amherst College, a master's of fine arts and a Ph.D. from Cornell University.

Dr. Marne Juestel to associate professor of Nursing. She received her bachelor's degree from Valparaiso University and her Ph.D. from Rush University.

Dr. Vanessa Quinn to associate professor of Biology. Quinn was granted her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin and earned her master's degree from Northern Michigan University and Ph.D. from Indiana State University.

Dr. Cynthia Roberts to professor of Organizational Behavior and Leadership. Roberts was granted her bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University; a master's degree from Loyola University and her Ph.D. from Benedictine University.

Dr. Li Tan to associate professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology. He holds a master's degree and Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico.
