Purdue University North Central will host the fall meeting of the Indiana Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) on Saturday, Oct. 16. This meeting will be of interest to high school math teachers as well as university faculty member, undergraduate and graduate students. 
The invited speakers are Jim Lewis, of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln presenting the talk, "NebraskaMATH" and Catherine Ann Brown, from Indiana University Bloomington, speaking about "The State of Mathematics Education in the State." These speakers will share information about challenges in mathematics education nationwide and in Indiana.
Registration can be completed through the Indiana MAA at www.maa.org/indiana. The deadline for early registration is Friday, October 8.
The MMA traces its roots back to the 19th century. It has evolved through the years and today has more than 20,000 members that include, faculty, students, and practitioners such as mathematicians; computer scientists; statisticians; and others in academia, government, business and industry. It welcomes all who are interested in the mathematical sciences.
It offers programs, meetings, publications and more than 100 national committees and 29 regional sections.
