Purdue University North Central will observe Constitution Day on Friday, Sept. 17, with activities on campus and in the community. All events are open to the public. 
The day's schedule is:
Noon to 1 p.m. - PNC Library-Student-Faculty Building, Room 144. Robert Beckman, LaPorte County prosecuting attorney will present "Technology, Privacy and the Fourth Amendment." The LaPorte County prosecuting attorney will discuss how new and emerging technologies have had a tremendous impact on expectations of privacy, creating difficult challenges for the protection of citizens' rights against unwarranted government intrusion. Focusing on the Fourth Amendment's protections against unreasonable searches and seizures, Beckman will address how Fourth Amendment rights can be preserved in a rapidly changing world.
This is free and open to the public. Lunch will be provided.
Noon - Blue Chip Casino, Michigan City. The PNC Center for Economic Development and Research (CEDaR) presents Dr. Paul M. Green, director of the Institute for Politics and Arthur Rubloff Professor of Policy Studies at Roosevelt University. Green will speak about the issues surrounding the upcoming November elections and other politically newsworthy issues. Green is a noted political scientist, author and political analyst for WGN Radio.
Registration is 11:30 a.m. to noon. Lunch begins at noon.

11 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. - PNC Library-Student-Faculty-Building Cafeteria. "A Child's Primer on the U.S. Constitution: What Every 6th Grader Should Know." Students in the EDCI 361 Elementary Social Studies Teaching Methods class will lead a learning activity and discuss their research on how the Constitution is a living document and as relevant today as it was 234 years ago. This is free and open to the public.
