A goal for the Life Skills class at PHS is to have a "job experience." We are doing that by having students spend time weekly working for different departments at the high school. Currently we have students working for the Media Center, removing the library books that are in the drop boxes located throughtout the high school, and returning the books to the library for check in.
We also do laundry for the PE department, as well as clean/sanitize the cardio equipment. We work in the English department shelving lots of books, and breaking down boxes. Daily, we have students who work in the south cafeteria cleaning tables after lunch time.
We are now in dialogue with leaders of the recycling program at PHS, to see how we can help with that program. The students are learning responsibility and experiencing the satisfaction of doing a job well.
